Hong Kong

Hong Kong, officially known as The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is located on the South East Coast of China and was a British Colony since the 1800s. Hong Kong is a group of more than two hundred and sixty islands facing the South China Sea. Hong Kong reverted back to China in 1977 from the United Kingdom, where it had the status of a crown colony.

Hong Kong has a very strong, capitalist based economy that allows a free market. With low-taxation and a non-interference policy by the mainland Chinese Government, Hong Kong is a very attractive offshore centre.

Many big, multi-national banks are represented in Hong Kong, including HSBC, CITIBANK, BARCLAYS, CREDIT SUISSE, CHASE MANHATTAN BANK - a list of Hong Kong banks.
